Game Boy Emulator

I'm always genuinely happy when someone in our community shares that they've built something with Objo but one project recently has really impressed me. I'm talking about a fully featured Game Boy emulator written entirely in Objo!

This project was created by @madru from the Objo forums and is a truly remarkable achievement. From my testing, the emulator is able to load and play at full fidelity Game Boy and Game Boy Color ROMs perfectly including with sound!

Initially @madru ported the emulator using only native Objo code. The code is well written and really easy to learn from. I highly recommend perusing the CPU core code to learn how an 8-bit CPU works. That version was fully functional but ran only at about 10 FPS in the debugger. Once we released our plugin SDK however, @madru ported the core of the engine into a C# plugin. This version runs at a locked 60 FPS even in Objo's debugger! Truly amazing.

You can download the full unencrypted emulator source code from the showcase here: https://objo.dev/showcase/app/game-boy-emulator

In order to run the emulator, you'll also need to install the free Game Boy Core Objo plugin, also hosted on our showcase here: https://objo.dev/showcase/plugin/game-boy-core

Give a shout out to @madru on the forums to let them know you appreciate their generosity!
